Est. 2015
Since 2015, we've been supporting the holistic development of the village of Kihembe, in Kanungu District, Uganda. Made up of people from Uganda & the UK, The Zuri Project seeks to address social inequality and provide opportunities to people in a number of ways. To find out how we work, please explore our website. It's great to have you here.

Introducing Zuri
We've been supporting small-scale, localised development projects in Kihembe since 2015
The Zuri Project Uganda is a UK-registered charity (1160649) co-founded in 2015 by Ross Young, Martin Hewell, and Herbert Niwagaba. Our mission is to help communities in Uganda thrive. We believe change should be joyful, practical, and people-powered. From education and wellbeing to grassroots support, we roll up our sleeves and get stuck in.

Our work centres around three project sites. Kishunju Nursery & Primary School gives young children a safe place to learn and grow. Kihembe Vocational Secondary School equips teens with practical skills and opportunities for the future. And Kihembe Health Centre II delivers vital healthcare to the whole community. Together, these projects tackle education and wellbeing head-on.
Our Projects

Kishunju Nursery & Primary School
The project where the Zuri Project began. We've built new classrooms at Kishunju, developed the school's infrastructure, and helped with teacher training.

Kihembe Vocational Secondary School
Our proudest achievement. Together with the local government and the Church of Uganda, we built the first secondary school in Kihembe Sub-County, supporting teens into quality education.
Welcome to The Zuri Project website, and thank you for visiting. We have been working in the community of Kihembe since 2015, focusing on three main projects that continue to make a lasting difference: Kihembe Vocational Secondary School, Kishunju Nursery and Primary School, and Kihembe Health Centre II.
Each of these represents a shared commitment to creating better opportunities for children, families, and the wider community.

None of this would have been possible without the kindness and encouragement of people who believe in what we are doing. Your support has helped us continue this journey, and for that, we are deeply grateful.

As you explore the website, you will find more information about our work, our story, and the community we are proud to support. We are so pleased to welcome you here.
